Birgit Katriin Born

Estonian violinist Birgit Katriin Born is a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra since 2019. She has been studying in the United Kingdom since 2016 at Chetham’s School of Music with prof. Jan Repko, with whom she currently continues her studies at the Royal College of Music as an ABRSM Scholar. She has won numerous national and international competitions, participated in many summer academies, like the Astona International Summer Academy, the Pärnu Music Festival&Järvi Academy, and played in masterclasses with leading violin teachers like Mauricio Fuks, Stephan Picard, Viktor Tretyakov, and others. Birgit especially enjoys playing chamber music and she is a current member of the Saul Quartet. Her other recent collaborations include performing with the Harlem Quartet and with European Union Youth Orchestra members and alumni at the European Gallery Music Festival 2020. In June 2018, Birgit also had the opportunity to perform in Buckingham Palace for Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
