Gustavo Dias Rocha
Gustavo Dias Rocha was born on the 1st december 2000 in Porto, Portugal. At the age of nine he joined the “Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho” and began studying Double Bass with the teacher Tiago Pinto-Ribeiro.
Since 2018, he is studing in the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, in professor Gunars Upatnienks’s class. He had the chance of working with Professors Janne Saksala, Gunars Upatnieks, Matthew McDonald, Simö Vaisãnen, Michael Wolf, Janusz Widzig, Esko Laine.
In 2017, Gustavo won the 2 prize and in 2018 the Honorable Mention at the Festivel/Masterclasse Verão Clássico. He played in several professional orchestras and youth orchestras such as: Orquestra da Academia de Musica de Espinho (AME), Orquestra Clássica de Espinho (OCE), Orquestra Camarata EPME, Orquestra de cordas Intermezzo da AME, Orquestra de Câmera Paços de Brandão, Junge Philharmonie Berlin, Neues KammerOcherster Potsdam, Russisch-Deutsche MusikAkademie, ORSO - Orchestra & Choral Society, Hauptstadt-Sinfonie-Orchester.
He had the chance of working under the direction of several maestros, namely Pedro Neves, Jean-Marc Burfin, Douglas Bostock, Francesco Belli, Cesário Costa and Jan Wierzba, Justin Doyle, Mikhail Mosenkov, Peter Rundel.
