Kayetan Cygański

Born in 1998, Kayetan started playing the bassoon at the age of 13. Recently he has finished his final year of the bachelor's program at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in the class of Professor Artur Kasperek. In 2021 he has begun his master's program in the Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim, in the class of Professor Ole Kristian Dahl.

Kayetan has won top prizes in over thirty competitions in Poland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Ukraine, both as soloist and as a chamber musician. He has participated in numerous masterclasses taught by world's finest bassoonists: Ole Kristian Dahl, Sebastian Stevensson, Matthias Racz, Roger Birnstingl, Bence Boganyi, Sophie Dervaux and Audun Halvorsen.

He has passed the auditions for co-principal bassoon in the National Opera in Warsaw and the Sinfonia Iuventus. He frequently performs as a member of the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra in Wrocław, the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra in Bydgoszcz and the Sinfonietta Cracovia. In addition, he has played in national and international youth orchestras: European Union Youth Orchestra (2020 and 2021), Sinfonia Iuventus, Santander Orchestra, Lutosławski Youth Orchestra and I, CULTURE Orchestra.

Kayetan has also appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Poland and abroad. In September 2016 he performed in the Czech Republic with the Praga Camerata during the Young Prague Festival.

Outside music, he enjoys spending time in the wilderness, sports and an occasional bit of philosophy.
