Andrea Domínguez de Dios

Madrid-born Andrea Domínguez de Dios is a versatile percussionist who has just completed her studies in London and who is already embarking on a successful career. She is currently the principal timpanist of Orquesta de la Academia de la Opera de Tenerife and has worked with professional orchestras including Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and Galicia Symphony Orchestra. Andrea has enjoyed international success performing in numerous American orchestral festivals and she has also begun making a name for herself in her home country as a member of young symphony orchestras throughout Spain.

Last year she became a member of EUYO 2020 and she joined the Glyndebourne Opera Tour Orchestra as part of their ‘Pit Perfect’ scheme. In recent years, she has participated in prestigious international festivals in Croatia, United States, Austria, Germany and Spain, most recently returning from a tour in China with the Canary Islands Young Symphony Orchestra.

Andrea is one of the founding members of Arkeima Percussion Quartet, with whom she won 2nd prize in the Taiwan International Percussion Competition. She undertook her Master of Arts in Timpani and Percussion at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying with Neil Percy and Simon Carrington; and she is an honor graduate of Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias (Tenerife), under the supervision of Paco Díaz, timpanist of Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, Andrea is teaching timpani and percussion at Conservatorio Superior de Música de Tenerife (Spain) and upcoming projects include a tour with her percussion quartet in Austria, Belgium and Spain.
